High Level Meeting and Capacity Building for Regional Inflation Control Team of Metro Municipality

Head of Statistics of Metro Municipality, Wintarti Dyah Indriani, S.E., attended a High Level Meeting and Capacity Building for the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) of Metro Municipality in preparation for the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H/2024 H at the Metro Municipality Government Office on March 6, 2024. This event, organized by the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) of Metro Municipality, aims to ensure the supply and price stability of food commodities ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2024.

The event was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Metro, Drs. H. Qomaru Zaman, M.A., and was attended by other speakers, including representatives from the Economic Bureau of the Lampung Provincial Government, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Lampung Provincial Representation, Perum Bulog, and the Food Task Force of Metro City Police.

In his address, the Deputy Mayor of Metro stated that this meeting is a follow-up to the TPID High-Level Meeting at the provincial level in Lampung. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among all TPID elements in controlling the prices of staple foods ahead of the religious and national holidays fasting (HKBN) and Eid al-Fitr in 2024.

In her presentation, the Head of Statistics of Metro Municipality stated that until February 2024, Metro Municipality still experienced a significant upward trend in prices. This increase was triggered by the high prices of rice, red chili, and bird's eye chili. Leading up to Ramadan in early March 2024, an increase in prices of rice, chicken meat, red chili, and chicken eggs was observed in the market. This should be immediately anticipated by the TPID of Metro Municipality through market interventions to minimize price fluctuations. It is hoped that the movement of food commodity prices leading up to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr can be well controlled, both from the consumer and seller perspectives, thus maintaining economic stability in Metro Municipality.
