Capturing Changes in People's Consumption Preferences Through Commodity Volume Survey (SVK)

The Commodity Volume Survey (SVK) is a routine survey conducted annually by the Central Bureau of Statistics with the aim of knowing the sales volume by quality of commodities consumed by households. This survey is useful for capturing changes in people's consumption preferences for the quality of goods and services that have shifted over time. The results of the SVK support the improvement of the quality of data collection from the Consumer Price Survey (CPS), which ultimately results in inflation figures. SVK produces changes in the type of quality as well as the weight of a commodity consumed by the community with the most up to date conditions. So that changes in consumer consumption preferences continue to be monitored at all times. In the end, the inflation rate as one of the important economic indicators can be produced with good data quality.

In an effort to obtain quality Commodity Volume Survey (SVK) data, BPS Metro City on October 14, 2024 held a Briefing for Commodity Volume Survey (SVK) and Rice Retail Sales Volume Survey (SVPEB) in 2024. This activity aimed to provide officers with a complete understanding of the concept, definition, and business process of the SVK survey. So that at the time of data collection in the field, the dating collected and produced later is data that truly reflects the consumption patterns of the community, especially in Metro City.
