Head of Metro Municipality BPS statistics invited as Guest Lecturer at IAIN Metro Public Lecture

On Monday, October 14, 2024, Arum Purbowati, SST., Head of BPS Kota Metro, served as a Guest Lecturer for a Public Lecture organized by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business at IAIN Metro. With the theme "Quality Statistics for a Golden Indonesia," the Head of BPS Kota Metro highlighted the critical role of data and statistics in national development and outlined BPS's steps to ensure the quality of national statistics.

The lecture covered several key indicators produced by BPS, such as the Human Development Index (HDI), which measures the quality of life achievements in society. The HDI is based on three fundamental dimensions: long and healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living. Additionally, the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), indicating the proportion of the working-age population that is economically active, was also discussed. LFPR is calculated as the percentage of the labor force (both employed and unemployed) to the working-age population.

Various demographic indicators, such as the sex ratio, population density, and population growth rate, were also presented. This Public Lecture is expected to enhance students’ statistical literacy in support of realizing Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045.
