Statistics of Metro Municipality recorded a price decline (deflation) of 0.53 percent (month-to-month) in May 2025. This marks a shift from high inflation in March to more controlled conditions.

The price decline was mainly triggered by falling prices of a number of food commodities such as red chilies (-0.12%), shallots (-0.11%), as well as cayenne pepper, garlic, and fresh shrimp.

When compared to other regions in Lampung Province, deflation in Metro Municipality is quite significant. Metro Municipality is one of the regions with a fairly low level of deflation, lower than Mesuji (-0.85%) and East Lampung (-0.66%).

This data shows that price dynamics after the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr periods have begun to subside, although fluctuations in the following months still need to be watched out for.
