In 2025, Metro City’s economy grew by 5.20 percent, an increase compared to 4.88 percent in 2024. By industry, the highest growth was recorded in Accommodation and Food Services (10.85 percent), followed by Manufacturing (9.24 percent) and Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (9.11 percent). Meanwhile, the economic structure of Metro City remains dominated by Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles, contributing 18.29 percent, and Manufacturing, contributing 16.80 percent.
Employment
Employment conditions in Metro City showed positive progress in 2025. The Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) declined from 3.71 percent in 2024 to 3.54 percent in 2025. During the same period, the number of employed residents aged 15 and above increased from 90,116 people to 91,074 people. However, the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) slightly decreased from 70.08 percent to 69.80 percent.
Poverty
Poverty levels in Metro City continued to improve. The number of poor residents in 2025 was recorded at 11.58 thousand people, down from 12.07 thousand people in 2024. Accordingly, the poverty rate fell from 6.78 percent to 6.44 percent. The Poverty Depth Index (P1) decreased from 1.12 percent to 0.55 percent, while the Poverty Severity Index (P2) dropped from 0.15 percent to 0.07 percent.
Human Development Index (HDI)
Human development in Metro City continued to rise. The HDI reached 81.22 in 2025, up from 80.41 in 2024. This improvement was reflected across all components:
Life Expectancy rose to 75.86 years
Expected Years of Schooling increased to 14.97 years
Mean Years of Schooling reached 11.19 years
Adjusted per capita expenditure grew to Rp13.38 million per person per year
Strategic Indicators of Metro City
In 2025, several strategic indicators showed mixed developments. The population was projected to reach 177.52 thousand people, while the labor force totaled 94,413 people. The Open Unemployment Rate (OUR) stood at 3.54 percent, and the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) was 69.80 percent. On the economic side, Metro City’s growth reached 5.20 percent, with Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices amounting to Rp9,185.20 billion and GRDP per capita at Rp51.74 million.
Inflation in Metro City
In September 2026, Metro City’s year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation was 3.38 percent, unchanged from the previous month. On a month-to-month (m-to-m) basis, inflation stood at 0.39 percent. During the same period, Lampung Province recorded 3.51 percent y-on-y inflation, while the national figure was 3.28 percent.
Economic Growth and Structure by Expenditure
From the expenditure perspective, Metro City’s economy grew by 5.20 percent in 2025, mainly driven by:
Household Consumption Expenditure, which grew 4.45 percent
Gross Fixed Capital Formation, which grew 3.78 percent
The GRDP structure remains dominated by Household Consumption Expenditure (72.81 percent), followed by Gross Fixed Capital Formation (20.09 percent) and Government Consumption Expenditure (12.05 percent).
