METRO CITY MONTH FEBRUARY 2015 DEFLATION OF 0.96 PERCENT

Abstract

Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in February 2015, the deflation of Metro City is dominated by a decrease in the index of 6.21 in the transportation, communications and financial services. Nonetheless four (4) other expenditure groups also experienced deflation ie food group fell by 0.24 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel, and clothing with deflation respectively by 0.39 percent and 0.11 percent; as well as education, recreation and sports were down 0.02 percent. Health groups put a halt deflation by the increase in the index of 0.01, while the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco not experience changes in the index.
