Abstract

In September 2018, the number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month under the Poverty Line) in Lampung reached 1,091.60 thousand people (13.01 percent), a decrease of 5.45 thousand people compared to the conditions in March 2018 which amounted to 1,097 , 05 thousand people (13.14 percent).
The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2018 was 9.27 percent, down to 9.06 percent in September 2018. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2018 was 14.76 percent, down to 14.73 percent in September 2018.
The role of food commodities on the poverty line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in September 2018 was recorded at 74.88 percent. This condition is the same as in March 2018.
As of September 2018, the level of inequality in expenditure of Lampung residents as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.326. This figure is down by 0.02 points compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio which is 0.346. When compared with the September 2017 Gini Ratio of 0.333, the September 2018 Gini Ratio fell by 0.007 points.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2018 was recorded at 0.338 down compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2018 which was 0.367 and with the Gini Ratio in September 2017 which was 0.360. In rural areas, the September 2018 Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.294 which also fell compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio of 0.317 and the September 2017 Gini Ratio which was recorded at 0.301.
As of September 2018, the distribution of expenditure for the lowest 40 percent of the population is 20.14 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the low level of inequality category. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure is 19.47 percent. Whereas in rural areas it was recorded at 21.66 percent. Inequality in rural and urban areas is still in the category of low inequality.
