In February 2019, Metro City experienced a deflation of 0.04 percent due to a decrease in the index from 139.63 in January 2019 to 139.58 in February 2019. Two expenditure groups contributed to the formation of deflation, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.0654 percent and the transport, communication and financial services group by 0.0269 percent. In contrast, the five expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, namely the health group by 0.0161 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.0136 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0,0107 percent; the clothing group was 0.0083 percent and the education, recreation and sports group was 0.0049 percent.
Some commodities that predominantly contribute to deflation include red onion, red chili, chicken eggs, bloating, green chili, potatoes, gasoline, cayenne pepper, carrots and chicken meat.
