Abstract

In March 2020 there was inflation of 0.27 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.36. Out of 90 CPI cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe of 0.64 percent with CPI of 104.20 and the lowest occurred in Pekanbaru, Surakarta and Surabaya of 0.01 percent with CPI of 103.840, 103.76 and 104.26, respectively. While the highest deflation occurred in Timika by 1.91 percent with CPI of 102.79 and the lowest occurred in Tangerang by 0.01 percent with CPI of 104.40.

• Inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.34 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group at 0.01 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.45 percent; health group of 0.92 percent; information, communication and financial services by 0.38 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.06 percent and the personal care and other services group by 1.35 percent. While in the clothing and footwear group; transportation group; recreation, sports and culture groups and education groups did not change the index.

• The March 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 1.61 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2020 against March 2019) is 3.96 percent.
