August 2017, Bandar Lampung City experienced a deflation of 0.42 percent due to a drop in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 130.50 in July 2017 to 129.95 in August 2017. Two expenditure groups contributed to deflation in Bandar Lampung City, foodstuffs contribute to 0.30 percent deflation; and the transport, communication & financial services group by 0.16 percent. On the contrary, two expenditure groups contributed to inflation, ie the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco contributed to inflation by 0.03 percent; and the health group by 0.01 percent. While the other three groups did not contribute to inflation.
Some dominant commodities contribute to deflation, among others, onion, intercity transportation, air transport, tempe, garlic, concrete iron, cung kediro, sugar, chicken meat, and vegetable tomatoes. Based on the calculation of Consumer Price Index (CPI), Bandar Lampung's deflation occurred due to the decline in index in the foodstuff category which experienced an index decline of 1.24 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.02 percent; and the transport, communication & financial services group by 1.05 percent. In contrast, the three groups experienced inflation, namely the processed food, beverage, cigarette & tobacco group by 0.18 percent; clothing group by 0.13 percent; and the health group by 0.14 percent. Bandar Lampung City's deflation was ranked 63rd out of 82 cities observed for its price growth. Of 82 cities, 35 cities experienced inflation, and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe at 1.09 percent, while the lowest inflation was in Batam by 0.01 percent. In contrast, the highest deflation occurred in Ambon at 2.08 percent, and the lowest deflation occurred in Samarinda by 0.03 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, in August 2017 based on the calculation of the inflation of the calendar year (point to point) is 2.07 percent and year on year inflation (yoy) is 4.14 percent.
