· In early 2018, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.48 percent due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 137.19 in December 2017 to 137.85 in January 2018. Six expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, ie foodstuffs by 0.4263 percent; followed by transport, communication and financial services group by 0,0381 percent; then clothing by 0,0081 percent; health group by 0,0057 percent; food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group by 0,0038 percent and housing, water, gas and fuel with inflation by 0,0018 percent. In contrast, education, recreation and sports groups contributed to deflation by 0.0006 percent.
· Some of the dominant commodities contributing to inflation include rice, red pepper, cayenne pepper, motorbike, catfish, chicken eggs, RT helper wages, filter clove cigarettes, gasoline and carrots.
· Metro City Inflation was ranked 58th out of 82 cities observed by price developments, with 79 CPI cities experiencing inflation and 3 cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Bandar Lampung at 1.42 percent, and the lowest inflation experienced by Tangerang by 0.04 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.12 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Meulaboh by 0.14 percent.
· Metro City, in January 2018 based on the calculation of calendar year inflation (Point to Point) is 0.48 percent and year on year inflation (YoY) is 2.08 percent.
