Abstract
In June 2019, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.48 percent due to an increase in the index from 141.21 in May 2019 to 141.89 in June 2019. Four expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.3971 percent ; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.0885 percent; the education, recreation and sports group by 0,0716 percent and the clothing group by 0,0510 percent. In contrast, the three expenditure groups contributed to the formation of deflation, namely the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.1206 percent; health group by 0.0043 percent and housing, water, electricity and fuel group by 0.0002 percent.
Some commodities that predominantly contribute to inflation include red chili, green chili, cayenne pepper, tutoring, catfish, live chicken, vegetable tomatoes, carrots, granulated sugar and spinach.
Metro City inflation is ranked 41st, out of 82 cities observed in price developments, 76 CPI cities experienced inflation and 6 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manado at 3.60 percent and the lowest inflation experienced by Singaraja was 0.02 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 0.41 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Jayapura at 0.08 percent.
Metro City, in June 2019 based on the calculation of inflation in the calendar year (Point to Point) amounted to 1.76 percent and year on year (YoY) inflation was 2.49 percent.
