· In March of 2018, Metro Municipality experienced inflation of 0.17 percent due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 138.11 in February 2018 to 138.34 in March 2018. The five spending groups contributed to the formation of inflation, namely foodstuff category by 0,1289 percent; followed by transportation, communication and financial services group by 0,0356 percent; next the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0,0100 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0.0010 percent and clothing by 0.0003 percent. On the other hand, expenditure groups contributing to deflationary formation, ie food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.0091 percent and healthcare by 0.0005 percent.
· Some dominant commodities contributing to inflation include garlic, onion, gasoline, cayenne pepper, red chili, green chilli, motorbike, powder / liquid detergent soap, instant noodles and oranges.
· Metro City Inflation was ranked 36th out of 82 cities observed for its price growth, with 57 CPI cities experiencing inflation and 25 cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 2.10 percent and the lowest inflation experienced by Sumenep by 0.01 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Tual at 2.30 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Bulukumba by 0.01 percent.
· Metro City, in March 2018 based on the calculation of calendar year inflation (Point to Point) was 0.84 percent and year on year inflation (YoY) was 2.47 percent.
