Abstract

➢ In March 2018, the number of poor (people with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Lampung reached 1,097.05 thousand people (13.14 percent), increased by 13.31 thousand people compared to September 2017 which amounted to 1,083,74 thousand people (13.04 percent).

➢ The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2017 of 9.13 percent rose to 9.27 percent in March 2018. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2017 of 14.56 percent rose to 14.76 percent in March 2018.

➢ The role of food commodities against the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in March 2018 was recorded at 74.88 percent. This condition is not much different from the condition of September 2017 that is equal to 74.73 percent.

➢ In March 2018, the level of inequality of Lampung population expenditure as measured by Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.346. This figure increased by 0.013 points when compared with Gini Ratio September 2017 which amounted to 0.333. Meanwhile, compared to Gini Ratio of March 2017 of 0.334, Gini Ratio of March 2018 increased by 0.012 points.

➢ Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2018 was recorded at 0.367 compared to Gini Ratio of September 2017 of 0.360 and Gini Ratio of March 2017 which was 0.364. While Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2018 was recorded at 0.317 increase compared to Gini Ratio September 2017 which amounted to 0.301 and also increased when compared to Gini Ratio March 2017 which amounted to 0.297.

➢ In March 2018, the distribution of expenditure of the lowest 40 percent population group was 19.64 percent. This means that the population expenditure is still in the category of low level of inequality. If detailed by region, in urban areas the figure is recorded at 18.42 percent, while in rural areas recorded at 20.97 percent. Inequality in rural and urban areas is still in the category of low inequality.
