In November 2018, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.27 percent due to an increase in the index from 138.69 in October 2018 to 139.06 in November 2018. Six expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.1078 percent ; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group at 0.0583 percent; followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.0541 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.0337 percent; health group by 0.0221 percent and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.0091 percent. In contrast, one expenditure group contributed to the formation of deflation, namely the clothing group by 0.0189 percent.
Some of the commodities that predominantly contribute to inflation include rice, cement, shallots, bloating, gasoline, clove cigarettes, refrigerators / refrigerators, snacks / snacks, carrots and oranges. Metro City inflation ranked 47th, out of 82 cities observed in price developments, 70 CPI cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation.
The highest inflation occurred in Merauke at 2.05 percent and the lowest inflation experienced by Balikpapan at 0.01 percent. While the highest deflation occurred in Medan at 0.64 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in Pematang Siantar and Pangkal Pinang by 0.01 percent.
Metro City, in November 2018 based on the calculation of inflation in the calendar year (Point to Point) amounted to 1.36 percent and inflation year on year (YoY) amounted to 1.59 percent.
