Abstract

In September 2020 there was inflation of 0.10 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.3. Of the 90 CPI cities, 34 experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli at 1.00 percent with the CPI of 104.96 and the lowest occurred in Pontianak and Pekanbaru at 0.01 percent with CPI of 105.50 each; and 103.44. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Timika at 0.83 percent with a CPI of 106.50 and the lowest in Bukit Tinggi, Jember and Singkawang, at 0.01 percent with CPI of 103.25 each; 104.64; and 102.48.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most of the index for the expenditure group, namely: the personal care and other services group by 0.86 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.54 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group of 0.45 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.36 percent; the equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group by 0.34 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.05 percent; and the transportation group by 0.02 percent. While the group that experienced deflation was the food, beverage and other tobacco group by 0.31 percent. Meanwhile in the health group; education group; and there was no change in index for the food and beverage / restaurant supply group.

The inflation rate for the calendar year (September 2020 against December 2019) is 1.55 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2020 against September 2019) is 2.25 percent.
