March 2025 Metro Municipality Inflation Soars! Effects of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 1446 H

In March 2025, Statistics of Metro Municipality recorded inflation of 1.96 percent (month-to-month). This spike occurred after two consecutive months of deflation. This price increase is closely related to increasing demand ahead of Eid al-Fitr and the month of Ramadan 1446 H.

The highest price increase was contributed by electricity rates which returned to normal after previously receiving a 50% discount. Apart from that, the commodities of shallots, coconuts, garlic and purebred chicken eggs also recorded significant increases due to the high demand of the community ahead of Eid.

On a year-on-year (y-on-y) basis, Metro Municipality inflation reached 1.39 percent, and on a year-to-date (y-to-d) basis, it was 0.77 percent.
