LATEST BPS METRO DATA: HYPERTENSION IS STILL THE “CHAMPION” OF THE MOST PREVIOUS DISEASES IN 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Metro Municipality revealed surprising data from the Metro in Figures 2025 publication: Hypertension is back in the top spot as the most common disease in Metro Municipality 2024, with 22,839 cases!

Not only that, three other diseases also followed in the highest list:

• Respiratory Tract Infection - 15,777 cases

• Acute Nasopharyngitis (Common Flu) - 14,939 cases

• Dyspepsia (Digestive Disorders) - 11,461 cases

What does this mean for Metro residents?

It is important to start paying attention to diet, exercise, and environmental cleanliness. This data can also be an important consideration for the health department to focus on prevention and public education.
