In January 2023 in Metro Municipality there was year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.60 percent

In January 2023 in Metro City there was year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.60 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.97. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Kotabaru at 7.78 percent with a CPI of 119.97 and the lowest occurred in Sorong at 3.23 percent with a CPI of 112.02.

               Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 8.68 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 3.92 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel group by 1.50 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 2.13 percent; the health group by 1.87 percent; transportation group of 13.28 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 4.39 percent; the education group by 1.26 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 2.73 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 6.21 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 2.96 percent.
