· December 2017, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.23 percent due to a rise in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 136.88 in November 2017 to 137.19 in December 2017. Four expenditure groups contributed to the formation of inflation, the materials group food by 0.2382 percent; followed by clothing by 0.0175 percent; next the transport, communication and financial services group by 0.0051 percent and the health group by 0.0015 percent. In contrast, the processed food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco groups contributed to deflation by 0.0169 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0,0147 percent and education, recreation and sports group by 0,0042 percent.
· Some dominant commodities contributing to inflation include red peppers, eggs, rice, green chilies, filter clove cigarettes, chicken meat, oranges, carrots, potatoes, vegetable tomatoes.
· Metro City Inflation is ranked 81st out of 82 cities observed for price growth. Of the 82 cities observed in the development of prices, all experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 2.28 percent, and the lowest inflation experienced by Sorong was 0.18 percent.
· Metro City, in December 2017 based on the calculation of calendar year inflation (Point to Point) was 2.32 percent and year on year inflation (YoY) was 2.32 percent.
