Abstract

February 2021, Metro Municipality experienced inflation of 0.29 percent. There was an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 106.87 in January 2021 to 107.18 in February 2021. Inflation was caused by price increases in five expenditure groups, namely the food, beverage and tobacco group with inflation of 0.90. percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.11 percent; the health group by 0.02 percent; the transportation group of 0.40 percent; and the recreation, sports and culture group with inflation of 0.25 percent. On the other hand, there were three groups that experienced deflation, namely, the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group with deflation of 0.24 percent; equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group 0.07 percent; and personal care and other services group by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the three groups that did not experience changes in price were the education group; information, communication and financial services group; and groups of food and beverage / restaurant providers.
