Abstract

May 2021, Metro City experienced inflation of 0.64 percent. There was an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 106.68 in April 2021 to 107.36 in May 2021. Inflation occurred due to price increases in nine expenditure groups namely, food, beverages and tobacco with inflation of 1.03 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.51 percent; housing, water, electricity, and other fuel groups by 0.14 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 1.79 percent; health group 0.47 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.22 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.15 percent; group of food and beverage providers/restaurants by 0.85 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 1.28 percent. On the other hand, one group that experienced deflation was the transportation group by 0.10 percent. Meanwhile, the group that did not experience price changes was the education group.
