Abstract

January 2021, Metro Municipality experienced inflation of 0.53 percent. There was an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 106.31 in December 2020 to 106.87 in January 2021. Inflation occurred due to price increases in nine expenditure groups, namely, the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.25 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group of 0.02 percent; household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group of 0.55 percent; health group with inflation of 0.31 percent; the transportation group of 0.14 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.64 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.38 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.63 percent; and personal care and other services group by 0.17 percent. Meanwhile, the two groups that did not experience changes in prices were the clothing and footwear group and the education group.
