Metro City - Towards the end of the year, budget management becomes one of the biggest challenges for treasurers in various agencies, including the Metro City Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). BPS Metro City Treasurer, Eko Guswanto, revealed the ups and downs faced in ensuring the budget can be absorbed optimally, on target, and in accordance with regulations.

“At the end of the year, the work rhythm increases rapidly. We have to ensure that all financial reports are completed on time, activity payments are verified properly, and there are no administrative errors,” said Eko Guswanto.

One of his joys is when the budget is managed well and used to support BPS strategic activities, such as surveys and data collection. “It's a relief when everything goes smoothly, and the budget absorption target is achieved without significant obstacles,” he added.

However, behind that, there are challenges that cannot be avoided. Eko Guswanto explained that one of the biggest challenges is managing sudden budget revisions or additional needs that arise at the end of the year. This often requires quick coordination with various parties, both internal and external.

“Sometimes we have to work late into the night to finalize documents or budget revisions. Not to mention if there are policy changes that must be adapted immediately,” he explains.
